Coral students volunteer as translators at a medical mission

Coral International students put their English to work for their community as translators at Paradise Foundation’s medical mission in El Calán.

Coral students volunteer as translators at a medical mission

A group of Coral International students joined Paradise Foundation’s medical mission in El Calán as volunteer translators. Throughout the day they worked alongside the medical team that came to Honduras to serve the community, giving a voice to the families who came for care.

At each care station, the students translated from Spanish to English and back: how each patient was feeling, the questions from doctors and nurses, and the instructions to follow the treatment at home.

Classroom English, serving their community

For our students, the mission was a real test of what they learn every day with their teachers: listening carefully, finding the right word and speaking with confidence in another language. For the families, it meant being able to explain how they felt and to understand the people caring for them.

This is the bilingual education we work for: young people who use their English to serve others and become agents of change in their community.

As the mission’s motto says, “Let all that you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14). Thank you to Paradise Foundation for opening this opportunity to our students, and to every family who trusted them.
