Our story

We walk beside every child

Walk Beside Me for Knowledge (Fundación Camina Junto a Mí por Conocimiento) is a Honduran nonprofit organization. Our schools have been open since 2005, born from a simple conviction: in Honduras, public schools are often overcrowded and under-resourced, while most private bilingual schools are expensive and offer no financial aid.

That is why we offer immersive bilingual education with small classes, low tuition and scholarships for 30% of our students. English-speaking volunteer teachers work alongside dedicated Honduran teachers and administrators.

Our graduates leave with strong English skills, which open the door to higher education and better-paying jobs in Honduras.

Our journey

  1. 2005

    Our first bilingual school opens in San Pedro Sula.

  2. 2009

    The Villanueva, Cortés school opens.

  3. 2011

    The Foundation receives its legal status (Resolution 1821-2011).

  4. 2015

    GlobalGiving campaign: 70 donors exceed the goal to educate 200 children.

Three bilingual schools, one mission

Coral International Bilingual School

Villanueva, Cortés, Honduras

Formerly known as Coral Springs Bilingual School. It is the first bilingual school in the Villanueva area to welcome qualified teachers from the United States every year. Most families work in factories or sugar-cane fields, and many students study on scholarship.

Coral International Bilingual School · El Progreso

Our El Progreso school brings the same quality bilingual education, with small classes and scholarships, to more families in the Sula valley.

Smart Kids Bilingual School

Our first school, opened in 2005 in San Pedro Sula. It offers bilingual education with small classes, English-speaking volunteer teachers and need-based scholarships.
