For many families, tuition is out of reach. A scholarship keeps a child in the classroom for the whole school year.
Many of our families work in textile factories or sugar-cane fields in the Sula Valley. When money runs short, children are the first to leave school, sometimes to start working. Others grow up with a parent who migrated in search of opportunity.
That is why our schools keep tuition low and give scholarships to around 30% of students. A scholarship is much more than a year of classes: it means stability, small classes, teachers who believe in them and English every day with English-speaking volunteer teachers.
With your support, a scholarship student gets:
A full school year at a bilingual school.
Small classes and committed Honduran teachers.
English every day, in and out of the classroom.
Every gift counts: many small donations add up to a scholarship. If you would like to sponsor a student for a whole year, write to us at info@wbkhn.org.
