Puerto Cortés is Honduras’ main port and the closest beach to San Pedro Sula. It has beaches for every taste, Garífuna communities with their music and food, and it is a few minutes from Omoa and its fortress.

- Cieneguita beach, wide and quiet, with hotels and restaurants facing the sea.
- Travesía and Bajamar, Garífuna communities with white-sand beaches, traditional food and dances such as punta.
- The La Pita hot springs, about 20 minutes from the center, on the road to Omoa.
- Laguna de Alvarado, for boat trips and birdwatching.
Tips for your visit
- Visit Travesía and Bajamar with a guide or someone from the community.
- Combine it with the Omoa Fortress on the same day.
